manx celtic music and dance

SCRAN

Scran is a dynamic young band from the Isle of Man. Ranging in age from 12 to 17, its talented members play, sing and dance.

As part of the Bree traditional music youth education movement organised by Culture Vannin, Scran reflects the flourishing Manx traditional music scene.

The current line-up includes Frank (fiddle), Resa (harp), Fraser (keyboard), Alyth (harp), Daniel (guitar) & Aalish (vocals, cajon & dance).

The band is mentored by well-known fiddle and keyboard player David Kilgallon (Mec Lir).

Scran, which is Manx for common people, has produced two albums of Manx music – Nane [Manx for the number one] and Jees [number two!]

The band represented the Isle of Man at Festival Interceltique de Lorient in 2024 and came fourth in the final of the prestigious Trophée Loïc Raison band competition. They were also finalists in Media Isle of Man's Awards for Excellence 2024.

Don't miss the invigorating blend of Manx tradition and innovation that Scran brings to the stage!
