The Isle of Man at the Festival Interceltique de Lorient
Once again, Manx culture is being represented at Europe’s largest Celtic festival by an enthusiastic team of musicians, singers, dancers and artists and volunteers.
Ealee Sheard (FIL Manx delegate) and Sarah Hendy (Manx art co-ordinator) lead the official delegation of performers selected by the festival, and Peter Young from Event Management Solutions and his hardworking team of volunteers run the Manx Pavilion, where thousands of festival-goers can enjoy Manx food produce, find out about visiting the Isle of Man and Manx culture, buy local souvenirs and watch live performances of music and dance on the stage.
This year’s Manx performers include: A’Nish, The Lawrences with Manx dancers Grainne Joughin and Ali Carroon, along with pavilion volunteers, singer-songwriter Matt Kelly and singer/instrumentalist Caitlin Bennett. The visual artist is Janet Lees whose works are housed at the EuroCelt Art Exhibition during the festival. The Manx pavilion is supported by Culture Vannin, IOM Arts Council, Visit Isle of Man and DEFA.
