Arrane son Mannin 2015 winners!

19 Jan 2015

Shenn Scoill have won the Arrane son Mannin (Song for Mann) for the second year running with their Gaelic song "My-lomarcan dy Feer" (I'm Alone Indeed). The competition took place at the Douglas Masonic Hall on Saturday 17th January and the band will now go on to represent the Isle of Man at the Pan-Celtic festival in Derry at Easter.

With Michelle Jamieson on lead vocals, accompanied by piano, guitar and bass, Shenn Scoill were victorious at the Pan-Celtic Song Contest last year with their song "Tayrn Mee Thie" (Drawing Me Home) when they beat the other Celtic countries to first place.

The £300 Arrane son Mannin prize is sponsored by Culture Vannin.

Prizes were also awarded for a 'new song in traditional mode', with first place going to Sharon Christian for her beautiful lullaby "Arrane Cadlee" which was performed by Clare Kilgallon, and second to Liz Marshall for her jaunty nautical themed "Master Frank", performed in harmony by Marlene Hendy, Esther, Dave and John Kilgallon.
